05:39 pm - $10,000 contest I got this forwarded from my mom, who got it from a friend.. K-Earth, the oldies station here in L.A. is having a contest where you win $10,000 if you identify all 10 songs in the medley..
We know some of them.. I think #3 is "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac and that #10 is "Respect" by Aretha Franklin.
The medley is here.. anyone have any other ideas? http://s8.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0XO0UHDSU33V51RFHNUBO94ZUG
You can also check out the playlist of the station @ http://www.kearth101.com/ ... After I determined Fleetwood Mac, I checked, and "Dreams" is the only song by them they play on the station.

02:56 am - and then it gets worse... I got both programs to work, but somehow in the process I wiped out all the songs on my iPod :( .. All 1400 of them. I was able to add a lot of them back into the library, but in order to get iTunes to work I had to go to an older version, and the only thing I was able to install was 4.0. Because of that, it's now not letting me copy any of the songs that I purchased to the player (including Fiona and Jamie Cullum).
Hopefully I can get this fixed soon, because otherwise I don't know what I'll do..

08:03 pm - my computer is screwed Well, about an hour ago, I went to a website to look up song lyrics and it downloaded and installed some kind of spyware program on my system...
Since then, I've tried everything to get rid of it.. multiple spyware and virus programs.. my AIM won't run.. my iTunes won't load, even though I've re-installed the newest version.. I need to get this stuff to run, otherwise I won't be able to even access my iPod..
And it's bothering me so much that I'm naseuous ... this sucks..

05:37 pm - Bird flu hits Disneyland! I saw this online today.. It's just awful.. I hope I don't catch anything..

Alright, that's not even Disneyland.. I don't know what park it is. It doesn't even really look like WDW. But how horrible anyway..

12:18 pm - What I'm listening to.. The last post led me to this site. It keeps track of what you listen to. Right now I have it installed into my iTunes so that it shows whatever I'm listening to (and supposedly what I've listened to on the iPod, but I can't confirm that yet.)
Here's my full page.. http://www.last.fm/user/arthurbang/ .. if you create an account, or have one, add me as your friend!
You can also check out my last songs in this signature:

10:17 pm - Celebs I've Seen (and talked to) at Work...
 Corey Feldman
He came into work today.. To Tower of Terror again.. and wanted to view his photo on the ride. Because he's a "celebrity" we were notified ahead of time that someone would be riding it. The policy is that if they notify us, we can block the photo out so that others can't see it, or buy it.
So he came up with a guy from the attraction. The sad part is that the other worker came up to me and said "Can you help Mr. Haim with his photo?". He decided that he didn't like either one enough to buy them (and we figured he probably didn't have the $12 anyway), but we gave him the photo numbers, in case he wanted to come back later and view them.

10:22 pm - R.I.P. Dallas I was in shock last night when my friend Jackie IMed and told me the news.. Ryan "Dallas" Cook, the bass player from Suburban Legends, one of my favorite bands, was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was 23.
It made me start thinking about my own life, and how any of us could go at any time.. and it makes the lyrics to my favorite SL song even more timely...
Bright Spring Morning
The time is right to begin Lets get going once again For once in your life just let go
I’m getting sick of everything Scared of what the next day brings What I need is for you to follow my lead
The sun is shining bright outside I think I’ll go for a ride I plan not to ever return
Lets run away from here for good Forget this dusty neighborhood The open road is calling and begging for us
Go roll down the window Go crank up that radio Lets drive until we hit the sky It’s not about where we will go Lets start living life before we die

10:33 pm - i'm gonna wash that gray right out of my hair It had been a long time since I had dyed my hair. The last time was in January, right before I left for Florida.. From a distance, my hair still LOOKS brown, but if you get up close, there's a lot of gray.
I had bought some dye a couple of months ago, but never used it, so I thought it was about time to do it again. It also didn't help things that one of my co-workers thought that a I was older than another worker, who was over 15 years my senior... and that happens more often that you'd think.
So, I've got it on my head right now, and then it'll be time to wash it out soon..

12:52 am - Celebs I've Seen At Work ... Yes, it's that time again... Time to add another name/picture to the collection I call "Celebs I've Seen At Work!" .. And this time, Becky's going to probably freak out..
 Thomas Lennon
I was at work, at the Tower of Terror store, and I glanced over to where he was standing. My first thought was "oh, that guy looks like Tom Lennon." I looked away and then did a double take and looked back, realizing it really was him. He seemed to be with a couple of older guests, probably his parents or relatives. I was preoccupied with another discussion at the time though, so before I could go talk to him at all, he left.
For those that don't know, Tom started on MTV sketch show The State. He also appeared in Viva Variety and is currently in Reno 911. Tom is also the co-writer of screenplays like Herbie:Fully Loaded.

07:33 pm - MTV censorship I mentioned the other day that I wanted to post about this, so here it is..
MTV has always had an odd censorship policy.. They not only bleep out the usual swear words, they bleep out any references to guns and drugs as well. Now, a kid can watch hundreds of scantilly-clad women gyrating around in rap videos, but god forbid they hear any reference to drugs.
And I do mean ANY reference to drugs. But what happens when the word in question is in the actual title of the song. Well, Weezer is no stranger to this. A few years ago, their song "Hash Pipe" was relabeled "Half Pipe". I thought that was bad enough, but then I saw something the other day. The new video for their newest single "We Are All On Drugs" came on.. only, that's not the name of it. It's now "We Are All In Love".
The funniest part is that even though Rivers is cleary singing ".. in love", his mouth (and everyone else who mouths it) are clearly saying the original words. Stupid, yes?

06:30 pm - Addicted to iTunes.. and .. change! I've decided that I'm becoming addicted to iTunes. The first CD I purchased from there was the Ben Folds "iTunes Originals". It's a great disc. I think most fans would enjoy it, even though there are no "NEW" songs. It's the closest thing we're probably going to get to a Ben Folds Storytellers concert, and I enjoyed a lot of the stories behind the songs.
Then I just downloaded the new Fiona Apple disc "Extraordinary Machine" last night. I've been a big Fiona fan since I first heard "Shadowboxer" back in the day. I had pre-ordered the CD through iTunes, which got me a bonus track (a live version of "Parting Gift"). So far, it seems pretty good. It's a little quirky, but there's nothing wrong with that. Two of the songs survived from the original Jon Brion produced version of the disc: the title track, and one called "Waltz". I need to listen to it in the car tomorrow and take it all in.
Now today, as I'm checking out the iTunes music store, I realize that there's a pre-order for Jamie Cullum's new one, that "drops" next Tuesday. It came with 3 bonus live tracks, so I went ahead and got that too.. my only complaint is that there are no sound clips available to see whether or not you're going to want to pre-order it or not. For $9.99 though, you can't beat it, and I'll probably end up burning these to CD eventually.
In addition to all of these "complete" CD's that I've purchased, I've also bought a handful of songs for $.99 cents each..
As for the "change" in the subject line, it refers to loose coin. I had a lot of it. I had always wanted to use those CoinStar machines in the local supermarkets, but they charge you a percentage of the money you dump in. Then I found out that you can now skip the service charge, if you exchange it for an Amazon gift certificate. So last week I took some of my coins in. The grand total came to about $132! Today I went back with the rest of it, and it was another $92. Ka-ching!
I already ordered a couple of things from Amazon... The second season of Arrested Development and the 2 disc special edition of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on DVD, and then a car charger for my iPod to go along with it.
I've got a rant about MTV censorship, but I'll get to that later :)

01:49 pm - oh nooooooooooooo I've discovered podcasts... heaven help me!

12:47 pm - let's go bowling.. Last night I did something that I haven't done in years. I went bowling! I can't say that I did a great job. I think that overall I came in second to last on our lane, but I did bowl one strike! We went after work, to celebrate the birthdays of two of my co-workers, Matt and Stephanie. It was a lot of fun. There was one girl, Lindsay, that I haven't seen in awhile. She had been fired in June, so it was good to see her. We really didn't talk a lot when I did work with her.. but last night she just couldn't stop talking. I invited her to go with us to see Corpse Bride on Tuesday.
That's our next big event together. I had planned our screening of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this summer, and now we're all going to see Corpse Bride on Tuesday night. It's always hard to say if everyone who SAYS they'll be there will actually go, but we could have as many as 40 people if everyone shows. As a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan, I've been looking forward to it for awhile now.
Then on Thursday night, we have an employee party at work (the third for me this month). So it's a busy week. In iPod news, I now have a little over 1000 songs on my player. I started with my favorite 50 CD's or so, and then have slowly been adding individual songs (a lot of 80's and 90's stuff). For the last few days, my listening habits have been .. listen to a complete CD on it, to and from work.. then after the CD is over (usually with about 10-15 mins left until I get home), I just shuffle all the songs on the player. It's a really good mix of stuff, and you never know what's going to come up. I'm not sure I'm really going to need the biggest player, but I'm still glad I got it.
I took some bowling pics last night... most of the ones of me are pretty bad.. so maybe I'll post them here soon .. but in the meantime, I took a new photo of myself yesterday for my myspace page .. I figured I'd show it off.

07:17 pm - minor rant If I'm at a restaurant, and I order Dr. Pepper, please don't bring me Root Beer instead. They're not the same thing. They don't taste the same. In fact don't even suggest it as an alternative. Thanks!

12:00 pm - Stewie live.. All Family Guy fans, check this out..
http://www.stewielive.com/
You can tell him different things and he'll react to it. Supposedly after a certain number of words are entered, the kill lever moves all the way up and you can click on the button.
Make sure you try "sex", "quagmire", "meg", "lois", "dance", "sing" .. any other good ones?

11:41 am - rain, rain, go away... Nobody said it could rain! ... But it is anyway. It started late last night, right before the sun went down. First, I spotted two huge rainbows off the distance. My first thought was, "wow, it looks like it's raining somewhere!"
Within an hour or so, it had started. Lots of lightning and thunder. Lost my internet and cable a few times over the course of the night. It was raining when I went to bed at 3:30-ish last night, and it still is right now.
On an unrelated note, I was glad to see all my favorite shows back on the air .. Last night I watched Arrested Development and Medium. Both are great. I was glad that Patricia Arquette won the emmy award, even though I thought she was a long shot. Tonight is House. I've been watching the first season, which I rented. Hugh Laurie definitely should have received the Emmy for it though. He's one of the most interesting characters in years.

11:17 am - it arrived I had been tracking it since the night before, so I knew it was going to be delivered yesterday, so when I got home last night I had my Ipod waiting for me. I spent a good portion of my first day off ripping CD's to the computer, so it copied all of them over instantly. I also added some more, along with some photos from my Florida trip.
So far, it seems to be true what people say about it. Very easy to navigate and use. I like the fact that you have so many play options. The only complaint is that, no matter what EQ setting I choose, it never sounds like it has enough bass through the headphones. I'm taking it to the car today to see how it sounds. I do enjoy having the album art though, and the ability to rate each song.
... And I bought my first CD through iTunes last night for it. The new Ben Folds "iTunes Originals" .. It's 28 tracks, half of which are interview segments, and the other half are made up of new live performances, with a few album tracks thrown in.
